STRIPPER RING SELECTION

Loose Stripper Ring
Loose stripper rings are available in two main types, single durometer loose stripper rings and double durometer loose stripper rings. As the name suggests, the dual hardness stripper rings have two hardnesses, the inner ring part is harder, which increases its service life. All of the loose stripper rings can be made in different hardnesses and colors. We will recommend different materials depending on the slit coils, such as polyurethane and Buna N, etc. The biggest advantages of the loose stripper ring are its cheap price and fast delivery time. But its disadvantages are also prominent, not high precision and inability to regrind the outer diameter.

Bonded stripper rings are also available in polyurethane or Buna N. The internal steel core is machined with ultra-high precision to meet the requirements of the shimless slitting process. The material is high alloy tool steel or rust proof high strength stainless steel.

For narrow and hard materials, such as bimetallic coil, it is impossible to use bonded stripper rings, because the thickness of the bonded stripper ring is less than 4 mm, and the rubber part is easy to fall off. For hard materials, bonded stripper ring is not able to push them out successfully, so a steel stripper ring is needed to press material during slitting. The outer diameter of this steel ring is much larger than that of the round knife, and the width is slightly narrower than that of the material stripper. The inner hole is sleeved on the outside of the spacer ring. The positioning of the outer circle mainly depends on three points: one point is the lower part of its outer circle, which is directly pressed against on the surface of the strip, the other two points are the two thin shafts above the upper shaft and below the lower shaft. When the slitting machine starts cutting and the upper and lower shafts start to rotate, the steel stripper ring rotates within the range of three points. Because its center deviates from the axis of the upper and lower shafts of the slitting machine, it is called an eccentric ring. The position of the two thin shafts can be moved up and down (or left and right), thereby pressing the eccentric ring, so that it has a small amount of ring deformation, thereby pressing the material strip. It is this force that drives the eccentric ring to rotate.
 
An important prerequisite for the use of steel stripper rings is whether the slitting machine is equipped with eccentric steel guide rollers. In addition, the design of the steel stripper ring and its future use and maintenance have higher requirements for the slitting tool manufacturer and operating staff.

The steel stripper ring is made of high alloy tool steel. For some sensitive coils, polyurethane is added to the outer circle of the steel stripper ring, mainly to protect the surface of the strip. The steel stripper ring has a high thrust, which allows for an efficient and smooth roll-out of the slit strip, and is mostly used for processing narrow and hard metal strips.
