Spacer is also called isolation ring, spacing ring, etc. Its main function is to fill the space between the slitter knives to help form the width of the strip. Different from the slitter blades, the material of the spacer is relatively simple, generally low alloy tool steel (GCr15, 65MN, 1.2067, etc.), and stainless steel is also used in special circumstances.

The machining accuracy of the spacer, that is, the geometric tolerance is also very important. Poor geometric tolerances will affect the clearance between the slitter blades and cannot guarantee the cutting quality of the coil. Depending on the material and thickness of the coil, different geometric tolerances need to be chosen. Generally speaking, cutting thin non-ferrous metal coils requires the parallelism and flatness of the spacer to reach 0.002 mm or even 0.001 mm, and the thickness tolerance is +/-0.001 mm, or even +/-0.0005 mm. But for cutting thicker steel, there is no need to require too high geometric tolerances.

The design of the spacer, including the tolerance of the inner hole, the selection of the outer diameter, and the formulation of the geometric tolerance all require rich experience and strong professionalism. Otherwise, it is very likely to cause inconvenience to subsequent use, severely damage the cutter shaft and cause the reduction of slitting quality. Contact us, we are willing to discuss with you!
