When choosing a slitting tool supplier, in addition to the price and the tolerance of the slitting tools, the customer should also examine the supplier's ability of tool manufacturing in the following aspects. Only in this way can we truly guarantee the knives’ tolerance and the reliability of the working life promised by the supplier.
  1. THE SELECTION RANGE OF MATERALS. Since customers process a wide range of materials, including copper, aluminum, copper-aluminum alloy, carbon steel, stainless steel, and silicon steel, as well as soft and hard materials, customers have different requirements for sharpness, wear resistance and toughness of knives, so it is very important for the supplier to have sufficient choices of knife raw materials.
  2. PROCESSING EQUIPMENT. The supplier should have precision OD grinders, ID grinders, ultra-precision rotary table surface grinders, large diameter bothside lapping machines. These are the most critical equipment for processing precision knives.
  3. HEAT TREATMENT. Vacuum heat treatment must be adopted for precision knives. Because the vacuum heat treatment can avoid the generation of decarburized layer and ensure the permanent sharpness of the knife. In addition, vacuum heat treatment can quench the knife quickly and evenly, ensure uniform hardness of the blade, reduce the internal stress of the knife, and avoid the gradual deformation of the knife during use and after regrind.
  4. INSPECTION. Check whether the supplier has a constant temperature room, and whether it has precision measuring instruments for thickness, roundness, eccentricity, parallelism, flatness, hardness, etc., and whether it has complete inspection records.
  5. MANAGEMENT. When inspecting a supplier, its management is also an extremely important factor. It depends on whether the site is clean, whether the logistics is smooth and logical.
Because it is precision, and even ultra-precision tools processing, the above all reflect the concepts, attitudes, knowledge and methods of the suppliers and their responsible persons for processing these tools. If they fail in this aspect, how can they produce good knives?!
