In some slitting equipment, a live sleeve will be set between the slitting machine and the Recoiler machine, which is the so-called deep pit structure in the industry. This structure is an important design to ensure the quality of the finished product of slitting and Recoiler.

After cold-rolled processing, it is difficult to achieve absolute flatness of the plate, and plate defects such as edge waves, warping and arching often occur. After the plate is cut into strips, there will be a small length difference between each material. As the production continues, the length error continues to accumulate, which will directly cause the elastic consistency of each material roll on the Recoiler shaft, affecting the quality of the finished roll.

After configuring the deep pit of the live sleeve, the cut plate strip is first stored and buffered in the live sleeve pit, and then the front tension roller of the Recoiler machine is controlled and sent to the Recoiler mechanism. The conveying distance from the tension roller to the Recoiler machine is very short, which can ensure that the length and tension of each material tend to be unified, so as to stabilize the quality of the finished product. The difference in the length of each material can be digested inside the live pit, and the cumulative error will not be transmitted to the finished product of the whole roll.

The depth of the live sleeve pit needs to match the production conditions. The total length of the thin material coil is larger and the number of circles is more. The corresponding design depth of the live sleeve pit needs to be deeper. The specific size is determined by the equipment manufacturer in combination with the actual processing conditions.

In addition, setting up a live sleeve deep pit can also reduce the requirements of the equipment for the tension control accuracy of the whole machine, alleviate the tension fluctuations caused by plate defects, and improve the compatibility of the equipment with the incoming plate shape.
