Pressed wood strips and rubber rings: how to choose when cutting materials

When cutting plates, pressed wood strips and rubber rings are two common material pressing methods. In order to save costs, some manufacturers will choose pressed wood strips. It is cheap and easy to install. It can cope with ordinary plate cutting, but in thin plates or high-precision precision cutting, the limitations of pressed wood strips will be revealed.
 
It is difficult to apply shear force evenly on pressed wood strips, and the shiny metal surface is easy to leave scratches. At the same time, the material cannot be pushed out of the cutting area in time, resulting in slight waves on the edge of the plate. This not only affects the appearance of the finished product, but also may increase the difficulty and cost of subsequent processing. In contrast, although rubber rings are more expensive, they can provide stable pressure, protect the surface, and ensure cutting accuracy, so they are more popular in high-precision cutting.
 
Nevertheless, pressed wooden strips still have a certain value. Under the condition that the accuracy of the plate is not high, it can reduce the cost and reduce the appearance of some knife marks. The key is that manufacturers need to comprehensively consider the balance between short-term cost and long-term effect when purchasing strip splitting machines. Choosing pressed wood strips purely to save money may bring chain problems such as order losses, increased rework and even decreased selling price, and these losses often far exceed the cost of purchasing rubber rings.
 
In general, which pressing method to choose depends on the material type and cutting accuracy requirements. Only by understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both can we maximize economic benefits while ensuring the quality of cutting.
