When dealing with the edge of the material generated by the strip, many metal processing enterprises are used to installing a winding machine next to the pit or equipment to directly roll the waste. There are obvious shortcomings in this method: it not only takes up a lot of workshop space, but also has a large amount of waste transshipment; once the narrow edge of the material is broken by the winding tensile force, the bouncing material belt is very easy to cause safety accidents.
Nowadays, more and more equipment has begun to be equipped with edge crushers, and one can be arranged on the operating side and one on the transmission side of the striping machine. The core of the edge crusher is a pair of hobs, and three to four oblique blades are assembled around the roller. The upper and lower hob blades are arranged at an inverted spiral angle. The upper knife is rotated to the right and the lower knife is rotated to the left, which can disperse the shear impact force and avoid instantaneous concentrated force.
The equipment is driven by a pair of meshing gears, one of which can be phasedly adjusted, adapted to different thickness belts, and flexibly set the shear gap. During operation, the blade will form a dynamic shear point, and the shear position will continue to move along the roller surface. The shearing principle is similar to that of scissors, and the waste can be cut smoothly.
The broken edge hob is mainly divided into two structures: integral and inlay.
The integral hob blade and the roller body are integrally molded. The blade belongs to the spiral line, which cannot be processed in an ordinary plane grinding machine. Production and regrinding need to use two-axis linkage tool mills or CNC grinding machines; multi-edged hobs should also ensure accurate grading, otherwise it is easy to cause scraps that cannot be cut.
The inlay hob fixes the blade and embeds it in the roller groove and relies on the wedge to lock it. The blade belongs to a plane elliptical curve, and the appearance is similar to a spiral, but there is a theoretical error in the two. Thanks to the structural characteristics, the inlay blade can be disassembled and repaired directly on the ordinary plane grinding machine, which is more convenient for later maintenance.
