What is the correct slitting tools installation procedure?

Slitting tools installation is the most important step in the entire cutting process. Many factory operators will install slitting tools, but not many can install tools well. The most important thing in the process of installing the tool is to make full preparations. After the preparations, install them all at one time.
  The preparations are as follows:
  1. Prepare a detailed tools installation plan, never by memory.
  2. According to the tools installation plan (it is better to be calculated by software), choose all the circular knivesbonded rubber rings, spacer rings and other tools with the correct specifications and quantities from the slitting tools storage.
  3. Ensure that the slitter knives and tools are clean, free from deformation and contamination.
  4. Sort the choosing knives and tools into two groups: upper shaft and lower shaft, and stack them one by one according to the cutting units on the tools installation plan. Then check whether the number of knives and tools is correct. If something is wrong, it means there is a problem and you need to check again. The double check must be carried out before installing the tools, because once it is installed on the shaft, it cannot be checked at all.
  Installation steps:
  1. Clean the arbors, transition sleeves or transition shafts.
  2. Synchronously start installing the slitter tools on the upper and lower arbors respectively, and check whether the positions of knives on the upper and lower shafts correspond at any time during the installation process.
  3. Before installing the tools, apply lubricating oil on the knife shaft, then clean the two surfaces of the knife and the ring and install them on the shaft.
  4. If it is found that the thin spacer is tilted on the shaft and cannot be installed, the tools that have been installed before should be returned to this thin spacer, so that this thin spacer could attach to the returned tools. Thus this thin spacer will not be tilted and also be installed. If you can use a thick spacer at the back or a set of tools to make this thin spacer not tilt, it can also be installed. When installing the knife, spray some aerosol lubricating oil on the shaft to facilitate the installation of the knife.
  5. After everything is installed, check whether the positions of the knives on the upper and lower shafts are correct again.
  6. If the knife on the upper and lower arbor positions correspond correctly, start to install the hydraulic nut.
  7. Lock the hydraulic nut, adjust the center distance of the upper and lower shafts, and put a small piece of sample flat sheet between upper and lower tooling.
  8. Continue to adjust the center distance of the upper and lower shafts to make the overlap amount meet the requirements. Turn the shaft by hand to start trial cutting. When the strip comes out in front of the slitter head, the strip can be pulled until all the strips are cut.
  9. Take out the sample strip and check the cutting result of each strip.
  10. For slitting machines with transition shafts that automatically load and unload slitting tools, be sure to check whether the transition shaft and the knife shaft are aligned. If they are not aligned, the key on any shaft will damage the thin spacer because the hydraulic tension is very high.
